'Mil-Sub'
A combination of the words “Military” and “Submariner”. The year is 1957 and the British Ministry of Defense (MOD) has commissioned a renowned Swiss watchmaker to develop a timepiece reliable and robust enough to become standard issue for the Royal Navy’s relatively new division of underwater combatants.
After extensive field testing, the MOD brought the watches back, asking for just some minor adjustments. Firstly, a redesign of the bezel to make it easier for divers to grip while wearing gloves. The other main revision was to swap the standard spring bars with soldered bars between the lugs to accommodate a NATO strap.
The “Mil-Sub” was born and served with distinction until 1967, when the Royal Navy switched allegiances and opted instead for a reworking of a Seamaster 300.
The Seikopaths’ “Mil-Sub” takes its inspiration from this iconic timepiece. Featuring typical characteristics of a vintage dive watch, such as a bi-directional 60-minute bezel, an acrylic crystal, self-winding movement and NATO strap, the “Mil-Sub” combines classic looks with modern mechanics.
